The loss of points is automatic and points are deleted at the end of the cycle. These will be replaced by the result obtained in the corresponding week of the current year.

This year round ranking will serve for player seedings for all VPA  tournaments and leagues.

VPA Rankings

All participants receive a VPA Rating (VPR), the "VPR" follows the international Padel Ratings from 1 to 7, in order to have a better accuracy VPA added on 2 numbers after the unit, an FIP player with a rating of 1. becomes VPR100, an FIP player with a rating of 2.5 becomes VPR 250. This system assesses your abilities and helps you find suitable matches with players at your level. It also guides you on which tournament levels to enter and which group coaching lessons you should attend. After Joining our VPA Tour, you will earn VPA Ranking points according to your tournament results, you will also be part of the Road to Saigon Master Final, trying to end the year in the top ranking players to be able to participate in the last tour of each year.

You can visit the Vietnam Padel Association website: www.vietnampadelassociation.com , to view the full rankings. Click on the Men's Ranking tab or Women's Ranking tab as needed.

Understanding Your VPR Rating

Your VPR rating is a reflection of your abilities. This will be affected by your match results in rated matches (tournaments, leagues, Americano). It is updated automatically on the Vietpadel website if you enter the results of each of your games and get them confirmed accordingly by your opponents.

VPR (Vietnam Padel Rating) System

All player ratings are updated after each official competition match or sanctioned event. Results from these official matches directly impact a player's VPR and contribute to their overall ranking.

For self-organised matches (Casual Matches), the VPR will be adjusted using the VPR Counter-Meter System.

  • Wins will move the counter upward.

  • Losses will move the counter downward.

  • Occasional wins or losses will not immediately affect a player's rating.

  • Only when a player demonstrates a consistent winning or losing trend over a period of matches will the system automatically adjust their VPR.

  • The maximum automatic adjustment resulting from casual matches is +10 points or -10 points.

This system is designed to:

  1. Encourage regular participation and match activity.

  2. Reflect long-term performance trends rather than isolated results.

  3. Prevent manipulation of ratings through a small number of casual matches.

  4. Maintain a fair and stable ranking system for all players.

Example:

  • A player who consistently wins casual matches against players of a similar or higher level may receive an adjustment of up to +10 VPR points.

  • A player who consistently loses casual matches may receive an adjustment of up to -10 VPR points.

  • A mixed record of wins and losses may result in no rating change.

The VPR Counter-Meter therefore acts as a performance indicator, rewarding sustained improvement and ensuring that player ratings accurately represent their current playing level.

We also use this information to determine seeding in tournaments by combining your VPR rating with your partner's to get a total score. The pair with the highest rating in the category will be seeded #1, the second highest #2, and so on. If a player without a previous rating enters a tournament, we will do our best to assess their ability level and assign a fair VPR rating, (or the player can take the self assessment quiz available when applying to an online account on our website).

Explaining VPR Rating

Here's an explanation of how the system works after your initial rating is assigned.

Simply put, the better your ability, the more the rating system expects you to win. The better you become, the smaller the rating reward when you win a match against a lower-rated player.

Several factors can affect the points you gain or lose:

  1. Your and your partner's abilities and ratings

  2. Your opponents' abilities and ratings

  3. Win/loss ratio – for example, winning 6-0 will earn you more points than winning 6-4

  4. Total points in sets – for example, losing 2-0 in a best of three sets match will hurt more than losing 2-1

Additional Points

  • Men only gain or lose rating points for matches played in men's categories. Their rating is not affected by mixed doubles matches.

  • Women gain rating points for matches played in women's and mixed doubles categories.

  • Americano tournaments offer a small bonus point to all participating players – both men and women.

  • All player ratings are updated monthly, at the end of the calendar month.

  • In the case of a tournament, the tournament must be fully completed before any results are entered into the system and affect the ratings.

VPA Annual Men's Ranking

This ranking reflects the performance of players in tournaments over the past 365 days. This process does not run from January to December but is a rolling 365 days backward from the current date. So, in June 2024, you can see who the top performers have been since June 2023.

We measure this based on player performance and results in monthly tournaments.

In a VPA 10 tournament, the winning Men's A team will receive 100 points. In a VPA 30 tournament, the winner will receive 300 points. In a VPA 50, the winner will receive 500 points. Second, third, fourth, etc., will receive fewer points, and lower-ranked categories will also receive fewer points. Full details of points can be viewed before each tournament.

Road to Saigon 2026

In December, there will be the Masters finals, inviting the top-performing players from 2026 to compete. Limited points will be offered for this tournament, and the Road to Saigon 2026 winner will be crowned the annual champion.

You can subscribe to our tournaments on our website in the "Event" section.
